A Weekly Dose of Happy Issue 8
Hi, welcome to the next edition of “A Weekly Dose of Happy” from HappyMonks. Here is a list of 5 things to help you start the week off with a little happiness! Enjoy!
I was talking to a friend recently and she mentioned that it was really important for her to make time to give back to the community, no matter how busy her life got. When she said this, it was a great reminder that I needed to get my act together and start looking for opportunities to give back. As I started searching, I came across this article on how giving more can make you happier and realized it was a perfect article to include in this week’s newsletter. I hope it inspires you to give back and, in return, brings a little dose of happiness into your life. Want to Be Happier? Give More. Give Better.
I have been obsessed with these gluten free Chocolate Almond Joy Bars by Elana’s Pantry ever since I discovered this recipe on Instagram. They are totally decadent but healthier than anything store bought since they are made with almond flour, coconut flour and coconut sugar. They definitely satisfy my sweet cravings without the guilt, which makes me very happy. In fact, I have some in my kitchen right now waiting for me. Chocolate Almond Joy Bars by Elana’s Pantry
This week my book recommendation is The Storied Life of A.J. Firky: A Novelby Gabrielle Zevin. It’s a funny, tender and moving story about A.J. Firky, a bookstore owner, whose life is not at all what he expected it to be. He lives alone, his bookstore is experiencing the worst sales in its history, and now his prized possession, a rare collection of Poe poems, has been stolen. But when a mysterious package appears at the bookstore, its unexpected arrival gives Firky the chance to make his life over--and see everything anew. It’s an uplifting story that will definitely make you smile. I hope you get a chance to read it!

I recently went into Sephora looking for a lip balm with SPF. When I asked the sales woman to recommend something, she immediately brought me Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25. She said it was her absolute favorite and when I saw the yummy flavors it comes in, I was sold. I bought the black tea and blackberry flavor and have been using it ever since. It totally works on chapped lips and isn’t sticky at all. I am already thinking about getting another one to leave in my purse so I always have one with me. The grapefruit and ginger flavor is calling to me! Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25
